Yellow interior and European food – Rhodes W1

Located in Grosvenor House Dubai, Rhodes W1 is a restaurant of European cuisine. It was open in 2014 by the famous Michelin starred chef Gary Rhodes. It was my first time visiting this venue, even I live in Marina area for years. Usually the scenario for Grosvenor House hotel  goes around Buddha Bar, Toro Toro and Siddharta Lounge, which now I realize are well-tryed and certified options to spend your night out. But I like to try new places so we ended up in Rhodes W1 for dinner.

My yellow dress was matching with the bright interior of the restaurant. Yellow and wooden furniture, green fake grass of the walls, white chandeliers and butterfly prints on pillows. Almost like in a garden :).

Rhodes W1 has received awards from TimeOut Dubai in 2016 as one of the best Europeans restaurants in Dubai. As this venue`s chef is Garry Rhodes, I was expecting much better impression from the food here, with more of British cuisine impact. The menu is a mix of dished from different European countries. There is also a Chicken Kiev, which I have found very surprising to see in Dubai :).

About the food I would not say wow, its ok. Nothing special. Just normal food, as everywhere in restaurants of this level. The only difference is that you can have on the same table oysters, pork, lamb, and chicken Kiev. But I don`t think it`s a good combination neither for your taste, nor for your stomach.

The dinner started with bred buns and complimentary soup from milk and tomato in a small white cup. The taste of this small dish was weird and not tasty :(. Not the best combination of hot milk foam and tomato extract. For starters we have ordered butter prawns, grilled sea bream and tuna tartar. For mains – pan fries seabass, lamb shank and chicken Kiev. All the food was of good, except of chicken Kiev, which was dry and not worth trying. Chicken Kiev is better in Kiev than in Dubai :).

I can say that the best part of the dinner was when we had the desserts. The raspberry soufle and warm chocolate foundant were awsome! My cappuccino was served in a beautiful girly pink cup. It was so cute.

Overall experience: average. Nothing special in the menu :(.

Recommended: desserts and coffee, drinks at the bar,  or if you have no other place to dine in Grosvenor House.
